Sarah Burmeister, SPED
A graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University (B.S., 2005), Sarah holds a K-12 Exceptional Needs credential in two states. She built and ran a private special education program for 8 years in Chula Vista before joining the STS team. Her aim is to tailor-fit a holistic education model to her students' particular needs and learning styles. When not in the classroom, Sarah serves as a caretaker for adults with developmental disabilities at Noah Homes. She is especially involved with the adults with Down Syndrome who have been impacted by Alzheimer's. She enjoys living, gardening, and homeschooling in the quiet hills of East County with her family.
Joanie Bogle, RSP
Joanie Bogle graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Education. After moving to California, she earned her Specialist Credential in Special Education and Resource Specialist Certificate. A Navy wife for over 30 years, she taught regular and special education in grades K-8 in Florida, Hawaii, Guam, and Virginia as well as Chula Vista and Jamul here in California. She believes in a team approach that fosters parent participation along with education professionals to provide the most beneficial environment and program support for students. Now semi-retired, she spends time tending to her elderly parents and young grandchildren. She and her husband are actively involved in volunteer work in the military community.
